Game is Hard is a free puzzle game by Unico Studio for Android and iPhone. Every level looks simple, just a short line of text and a few shapes, but the obvious move almost never works.

To win you might need to tilt your phone, shake it, turn the volume up, or read the question very literally. There are 300 levels, a Master Challenge mode with fresh twists on the hardest puzzles, and it plays offline in 20 languages.

What you see
“two rectangles please.” with four L-shaped blue blocks, one in each corner of a big square.

Level 277 is a sliding puzzle. The picture shows where the two rectangles end up, worked out from the game’s grid. Want to solve it yourself? Open the hints one at a time first.

Two L shapes can make a rectangle.
Bottom-left: up, right, up. Bottom-right: up, left, up. The dark lines show where the blocks join.
Solution
  1. Blocks slideSwipe a block and it slides until it hits the edge or another block.
  2. Bottom-left blockSwipe it up, then right, then up again. It slots under the top-right block and the two make one tall rectangle.
  3. Bottom-right blockSwipe it up, then left, then up again. It slots under the top-left block and makes the second rectangle.
Why it worksEach L block is the same shape as the one in the opposite corner, turned round. Sliding one under the other closes the gaps and makes a 2 × 3 rectangle.
