How to use the Connect Tracks solver
- Pick your board size. It’s shown under the level number in the game, from 4×4 up to 10×10.
- Enter the top numbers. These are the green numbers above the board. Type them from left to right. The solver tells you how many are left and flashes the one you’re on.
- Enter the side numbers. These are the green numbers down the left side. Type them from top to bottom.
- Copy the grey pieces. Tap each grey square that already has a track in your game and choose the same piece. Always include the two pieces where the track meets the edge of the board.
- Tap Solve. The finished track appears on the board. Tap “Hide answer” if you only wanted to check your work.
Connect Tracks rules
Connect Tracks is a type of logic puzzle involving train tracks. You have to draw one unbroken railway line which begins at one side of the board and ends at another. The number above a column indicates how many squares in that column contain track, and the number next to a row works in the same way for that row. The grey squares already have a section of track in them which your line must go through. The track never branches, never crosses itself and never forms a loop.
Tips for solving levels on your own
Begin by looking at the extreme cases. If a row or column contains a 1, it immediately eliminates most of the squares in it. When a number is equal to the size of the board, then all the squares in that row have a track. Next, consider the fixed pieces: each grey piece shows you precisely which two neighbouring squares the track must connect. On the 9×9 and 10×10 boards, you should count how many squares remain in each row after each move, since a row that is already complete cannot have any more track added.
