This Solution is provided by one of the users names Taraarata in comments:

a-4b+2c = 16
2a+7b-5c = 83
———————— +
3a +3b-3c = 99

So…..
a + b – c = 33

My Solution:

• There are 3 variable so we need minimum 3 equations to get the value of each variable (A B and C)
• Now we have only two equations, We can only find a relation between the variables.
• So after using A=2n (for integral value), I Found the following relationship:

A=2n, B=3n-41, C=5n-74

Now for each value of n, they will satisfy both given equations, For example taking n=1

A=2×1=2

B=3×1-41= -38

C=5n-74= -69

So A+B-C

= 2+(-38)-(-69)

=2-38+69

=33

Now understood?????? Or still, have a doubt?

Okay, let us take another value of n, Let’s take n=0 (simplest)

A=0, B=-41, C=-74

A+B-C= 0-41+74=33 (again!)

try this with N=100 you will be surprised that answer is always 33

So those who are asking the exact value of A B and C, I want to tell you that there can not be any fixed value, you can take any value of A and solve for the other two, but the answer will always be 33.

I used a different method but the good ole addition method works too.

I first solved for A:
A – 4B + 2C = 16
A = 16 + 4B – 2C

Next replaced the A in 2A with what A is equivalent too:
2(16 + 4B – 2C) + 7B – 5C = 83

Then I started solving for 5B (Prevent Fractions):
32 + 8B – 4C + 7B – 5C = 83
15B – 9C = 51
3(5B – 3C = 17)
5B = 17 + 3C

Then I Resolved the first equation for 4B (Prevent Fractions):
A – 4B + 2C = 16
4B = A + 2C – 16

Then I noticed 5B is one B more than 4B So I set 5B equal to 4B + B
17 + 3C = A + 2C – 16 + B
33 + 3C = A + 2C + B
33 + C = A + B
Then I noticed that I was solving for A + B – C
So I replaced A + B with 33 + C
And came with 33 + C – C = ?
C’s cancel out and 33 = ?

I know this is a long, and not the best way to do it. But I like finding alternatives!

Put value of A=n, then solve remaining 2 equations. You will get values of B and C in terms of n, But to get interger values, I have taken A=2n

This has to be the intended answer for this, regardless if I think it is right, as there is no way they jump from simple squares to the relationships in the answer above.

N can be anything here you can take zero
so a=0, b=-41, c= -74

1x -4y -1z = 5
2x +7y -2z = 16

No, not at all. I cannot solve for this equation given the information. x comes out as 5 + 4y and y comes out as 6/15… And how would x – 4y = 5 jive with x + y = 7?
I do not accept this answer, nor should anyone else given the thorough explanation on every other solution.

are you serious, did you solve it correctly??
y=2/5 and x=33/5 , these are the solution for x and y and hence x+y=7, i have another easy method for doing this, that i have added to post itself.

I tried solving it using the good ol’ trial and error and got a different answer.

I came up with:
A = 50
B = 4
C = 9

A-4B+2C=16
50 – 4(4) + 2(9) = 16
50 – 16 + 18 = 16

2A+7B-5C=83
2(50) + 7(4) – 5(9) =83
100 + 28 – 45 = 83

A+B-C=?
50 + 4 – 9 = 45

It all checks out. But I suppose that is the wrong way of solving it?
