Game is Hard is a free puzzle game by Unico Studio for Android and iPhone. Every level looks simple, just a short line of text and a few shapes, but the obvious move almost never works.

To win you might need to tilt your phone, shake it, turn the volume up, or read the question very literally. There are 300 levels, a Master Challenge mode with fresh twists on the hardest puzzles, and it plays offline in 20 languages.

Level 96 is a maths puzzle with balls. The steps show the rule and both answers. The triangle numbers in the picture are approximate. Want to solve it yourself? Open the hints one at a time first.

Solution
  1. Find the ruleThe top number minus the two corner numbers gives the number of balls. For example 5 − (2 + 1) = 2 and 9 − (2 + 3) = 4.
  2. Left empty triangleDrag 6 balls into the left empty triangle.
  3. Right empty triangleDrag 4 balls into the other empty triangle, then tap submit.
Why it worksEvery triangle follows the same rule: the top number minus the sum of its two corners is the number of balls inside. Working that out for the two empty ones gives 6 and 4.
