Game is Hard is a free puzzle game by Unico Studio for Android and iPhone. Every level looks simple, just a short line of text and a few shapes, but the obvious move almost never works.

To win you might need to tilt your phone, shake it, turn the volume up, or read the question very literally. There are 300 levels, a Master Challenge mode with fresh twists on the hardest puzzles, and it plays offline in 20 languages.

What you see
“merge the balls.” above a five-by-five board with coloured balls. Almost every colour appears twice.

Level 8 is a sliding puzzle where the order decides everything. The solution video shows all nine merges. Want to solve it yourself? Open the hints one at a time first.

Every colour has a twin somewhere on the board.

A ball only moves if the path to its twin is clear, so the order matters.
Solution
  1. Purple, brown, blue, pinkTap the purple ball first. A tapped ball slides to its partner if nothing is in the way. Then tap brown, blue and pink.
  2. Light green, teal, orange, redCarry on with light green, teal, orange and red. Diagonal pairs count too.
  3. Dark green lastFinish with the dark green ball. Every pair has now merged.
Why it worksA ball can only reach its partner when nothing stands in the way. This order clears the path for each pair, one after another.
