Game is Hard is a free puzzle game by Unico Studio for Android and iPhone. Every level looks simple, just a short line of text and a few shapes, but the obvious move almost never works.

To win you might need to tilt your phone, shake it, turn the volume up, or read the question very literally. There are 300 levels, a Master Challenge mode with fresh twists on the hardest puzzles, and it plays offline in 20 languages.

Keep the bright Xs. Rows: 1, 2, 3, 2, 2. Columns: 2, 3, 1, 2, 2.
Solution
  1. The numbersEach number is how many Xs should be left in that row or column.
  2. Sure thingsFirst row: leave only the leftmost X. Third column: leave only the X on the second row from the bottom. Fifth column: leave the Xs on rows 2 and 3. Fifth row: leave the Xs on columns 2 and 4.
  3. FinishTap the other Xs away, keeping the counts 1, 2, 3, 2, 2 for the rows and 2, 3, 1, 2, 2 for the columns.
Why it worksThe clues fix a few Xs straight away, and the rest follow from the row and column counts. More than one final layout can add up correctly; the picture shows one that does.
