Game is Hard is a free puzzle game by Unico Studio for Android and iPhone. Every level looks simple, just a short line of text and a few shapes, but the obvious move almost never works.

To win you might need to tilt your phone, shake it, turn the volume up, or read the question very literally. There are 300 levels, a Master Challenge mode with fresh twists on the hardest puzzles, and it plays offline in 20 languages.

What you see

Level 246 is solved with the whole phone. The picture shows the box stretched and the balls pushed away; the faint balls are where they started. Want to solve it yourself? Open the hints one at a time first.

The growth needs a wide screen.

Turn the phone on its side and move all three balls off the bar’s row, above or below it, until the bar has grown across the screen.
Solution
  1. Turn the phoneRotate your phone onto its side so the screen is wide.
  2. The box growsWhile the phone is on its side the blue box slowly stretches sideways.
  3. Keep the balls off itPush the orange balls out of its way with your finger so they don’t stop it growing. Hold the phone on its side until the box has finished.
Why it worksThe box only grows while the screen is horizontal, and it can’t grow through a ball. Keeping the way clear lets it stretch the whole width.
