Game is Hard is a free puzzle game by Unico Studio for Android and iPhone. Every level looks simple, just a short line of text and a few shapes, but the obvious move almost never works.

To win you might need to tilt your phone, shake it, turn the volume up, or read the question very literally. There are 300 levels, a Master Challenge mode with fresh twists on the hardest puzzles, and it plays offline in 20 languages.

What you see
“paint the big ball.” with a big ball split into four red and blue quarters. Four sticks come out of it, each ending in a small red or blue ball.

Level 184 is a timing puzzle. The picture shows the starting position and when to turn the sticks. Want to solve it yourself? Open the hints one at a time first.

The sticks can be turned with your finger.

Red goes to red, blue goes to blue.
Tap the big ball (1). After the first red lands, turn a quarter turn clockwise (2). After the next two land, turn once more (3).
Solution
  1. Start without turningTap the big ball straight away. The short red stick already points at a red quarter, and its ball lands there first.
  2. First quarter turnAs soon as that red ball lands, swipe to turn the sticks a quarter turn clockwise. Now the long red stick points at the other red quarter and a blue stick points at a blue quarter.
  3. Second quarter turnWhen those two balls have landed, turn the sticks one more quarter turn clockwise so the longest blue stick points at the last blue quarter.
Why it worksAll four sticks turn together, and the balls arrive one at a time, shortest stick first. No single position lines up all four colours, so you turn the sticks between arrivals.
